{"id":281,"date":"2012-01-29T23:36:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-30T04:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andrewyames.com\/artm2210\/?p=281"},"modified":"2012-02-06T08:30:24","modified_gmt":"2012-02-06T13:30:24","slug":"starbucks-vs-dunkin-doughnuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andrewyames.com\/artm2210\/starbucks-vs-dunkin-doughnuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Starbucks vs. Dunkin Doughnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After reviewing Dunkin Doughnuts and Starbucks\u2019 websites, I have come to the conclusion that coffee web pages do everything they can to make you want to drink something frothy and high in calories.<\/p>\n<p>Before entering the sites, I had anticipated pages full of artsy logos, bohemian color palettes, and sleek fonts.\u00a0 (Just due to the stereotypical target audience)\u00a0 I have to admit; I thought Starbucks would have all of these aspects.\u00a0 Instead, I found a rather bland color palette, without too many artsy attributes.<\/p>\n<p>The Starbucks layout has to be the least pleasing to me.\u00a0 I personally do not like it when video clips are rather large and take over the page.\u00a0 It seems extremely overwhelming.\u00a0 I don\u2019t mind large photos, but videos are no good to me.<\/p>\n<p>As an avid coffee drinker, the site did not woo me.\u00a0 It appeared very wordy when it came the pull down tabs at the top.\u00a0 It seemed when I was browsing around, I never really got anywhere; it seemed as if I was going in a circle and their was no real direction.<\/p>\n<p>As far as Dunkin Doughnuts, I like this website for a couple of reasons.\u00a0 The flow to me seems like it actually has a meaning and makes sense.\u00a0 The large photo on this page is aesthetically pleasing.\u00a0 (Not like the large video clip on Starbucks)\u00a0 I also personally like it when shapes play a big role in a web page.\u00a0 And they happen to use a bunch of squares and rectangles to solidify the information.\u00a0 I also really enjoy the color palette.\u00a0 Dunkin Doughnut\u2019s orange, brown, and fuchsia colors compliment one another perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>This site also guided me the way the consumer wanted.\u00a0 I went through the menu, viewed a bunch of different items, and then headed right to the online shop to see what they had for sale.\u00a0 Dunkin Doughnuts is business that wants to make money, a profit, and that\u2019s exactly what I was about to do.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, I believe that something as specific as coffee should have the right balance.\u00a0 There should be photos to get the attention of the audience, with enticing colors, and most importantly the information should be descriptive, yet concise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After reviewing Dunkin Doughnuts and Starbucks\u2019 websites, I have come to the conclusion that coffee web pages do everything they can to make you want to drink something frothy and high in calories.
