ARTM2210 Intro to Web Design

Just another Intro to… site

Third bi-weekly review (onepagelove.com)

In this week’s bi-weekly review, I decided to discus the design techniques used on the site www.leaderstheconference.com. The website was created by Grayden Poper for an organization called The Resolved Church. Different forms of multimedia are used to illustrate the elements of a conference hosted by The Resolved Church. The elements are situated in a “list” format, which forces the reader to scroll down the page in order to read more information. The focal point of the page is a silhouette of a man in the background that guides the viewer down the page, along with the placement of the information. The silhouette is the reason for the viewer to navigate through the page a specific direction, in contrast to using color.
The range of colors is limited to very few colors: black, white, gray, red, and yellow. All colors consist of a high-density texture that adds visual appeal; in addition every color has been faded in order to weaken the intensity of the color. The red has been toned down but still attracts the viewer’s attention because of the grayish background. Since the red is very different, it stands out from the rest of the content on the page, which creates emotions of pride, fortitude, or confidence. Those emotions are important to influence the viewer to join the conference, because there will be leaders from all over the U.S. Also, yellow is used to emphasize the titles and names along with tracking; the designer increased the space between the letters. Overall, this was a strong design because of the simple color palette and the use of texture to tie all of the colors together.
