Since we are working on the restaurant web page for our multi-page project with Brian and Justin I took a look at several restaurant websites. Many impressed me in a positive way among which I can mention http://www.nuevo-aurich.de/ and www.burgatorybar.com. Both esthetically interesting, stylish, but also functional. Burgatory has a simple and slender layout on the main page that uses plenty of texture and a harmonious color palette. With CSS and jquery, it gives the user access to the burger and drinks menu, displaying animated links that appear when mouseovering. The menu pages, both for food and drinks are consistent visually and stylistically similar to the main page. The navigation system is fast, original, and fun, it also uses jquery and CSS elements and has a very intuitive feel.
Nuevo-aurich is a more traditional web page, it uses javascript and photography in a very efficient way, a vibrant palette of warm colors. Background texture reinforces the sense of warmth. The navigation menu is at the middle-bottom of the main page and usually leads to submenus that use photos of pieces of paper/calendar as links. Those reveal the lists of food and drinks. Unity and balance are the main features of this web site s well as the clean layout.
