Folklore Reviews

Alyssa- I thought the illustrations went along well with the story. I liked the scrolling figure of the man. One suggestion I would make would be to not make the lines of text so wide, it makes it a little hard to read.

Zac- I loved the simple illustrations of the crows. They were simple yet so detailed. One issue I found with the page (and I don’t know if was just because my laptop screen is smaller) was that it was very wide and I could not zoom out so I had to scroll back and forth to see the whole picture.
Rachel- MY favorite part about this is how the tower and hair win down through the page. I thought all of the different textures were really great. I also like how some of the dialogue is bigger than other parts, emphasizing it. The one thing I noticed was that pieces of the illustrations were becoming pixelated. Could that be a slicing issue?
Milt- The scenes of this are great. Each one has almost a stained glass appearance which I think fits the story. I also think the boxes around the text give a nice effect. Although it’s very interesting, the story was short and it felt like there were pieces missing.
Jacob- The scrolling, swaying, and pulsing images on this are great. They really do help emphasize some of the emotions being illustrated in the story. I also like the how gradient begins and ends in darkness. The only I’m not sure about is all of the white area behind the images.
Brian- I think this page is so different from all the others. The way it’s bracketed gives a good sense of the different layers trying to be portrayed. I love the use of the old illustrations. One thing I might change is maybe making some of the layers thicker to enhance the effect of moving down.
Laura- I enjoy the simple imagery and I think each scene is separated well from one another without interfering with the flow of the story. One thing I might change is perhaps making each scene the same size.
Justin- I like this story. I think each scene depicts what’s going on in the text very well. One thing I noticed is that the edges looked a little fuzzy as if it’s a bit too stretched.
Ryan- These might be my favorite illustrations. I really like the no-lined simplistic style. I think the whole story flows really well across the page. The only bad thing I have to say is “comic sans.”
Latiyfa- I love these illustrations. I think the way they move across and down the page also helps the story come to life (especially the hovering blue figure). The only thing I might change is maybe space out the images on the top half a little more.
Katie- I like the story, and the insect images. Though, maybe there should be more than 3 scenes just to break it up bring in a little diversity.
