For this assignment I chose alzheimerday2012.org from onepagelove.com. It is a site dedicated to finding support for the organization Alzheimer Disease International. Its goal is to raise awareness and funds to provide care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
This one page site is simple yet intriguing. The text is is condensed and centered making it’s purpose and message clear and easy to read. Although there is little texture (the bulk of the brain illustration and the line running from it) it does an excellent job of subtly drawing your eye down through the page. Also the juxtaposing colors are muted so they do not clash.
To navigate from one part of the site to another the user must simply scroll down. One of the three color-coded buttons on the right side of the page can also be chosen to hop from one section to another. One of the most successful elements of this site is the colored hole that opens up as you glide from one section of the page to the next. It is very eye catching and a unique way to keep the user flowing down the page.
