Lanikai Properties is a real estate firm located in Oahu Hawaii. Because the real estate is located on an island, the look of the website is drastically different than websites on the main land. The main texture of the website is a wooden floor. The lines on the wood run vertical, the same way the page scrolls. The wood is a light color representing the light and airiness of the island. If the wood was a dark chestnut, it would give the website a completely different feel. Along the right hand side of the website, there is a distress striped banner that runs down the side of the page. The colors are a bright, cheerful color palette. The distressed look of this banner remind the visitor of the beauty of nature, of the house in Hawaii. The distress look may also be nostalgic for those who have traveled to Hawaii at a younger age. The web designer also distressed a lot of other shapes and boxes on the site.
There are many smaller textures that Lanikai uses to their advantage. The header is highlighted with lines and a circular shape to attract visitors’ eyes to the companies’ name. To keep the website organized, Lanikai uses boxes to hold the text and pictures. These boxes are also distressed to keep the feel of nature to the website. Some of the boxes are tilted to a right of left direction. The tilt removes any seriousness feeling for the website. The top box utilizes diagonal stripes, as diagonal stripes give the website a feeling of fun movement. The vector graphics placed around including a Volkswagen car and Hawaiian flowers enhance the lighthearted whimsical feel.
Lanikai Properties have a lighthearted fun website that is achieved with the use of texture. Light colors and wood grain work distressed boxes to keep the overall theme naturalistic. Rotations, vector images and order of placement keep a fun feeling to the website. Overall the website represents a Hawaiian real estate well.
